Linux: Set notebook screen brightness with command

date: 2017.07.08; modification:2017.07.08

I've got a new Samsung notebook 900X3M. I've tried ajusting screen backlight brightness under xfce4 and the shortcut keys works well.

But I'm using awesome wm under linux now, and the shortcut keys don't work. so I googled it and finally made it work.

1 Set brightness with command

By command(need to be root):

echo 100 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness

The value 100 may be different on different notebook, and it's range should be got by command:

cat /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/bl_power        # Min value
cat /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/max_brightness  # Max value
